2021 Paringa Estate 'Estate' Pinot Noir – Mornington Peninsula

A brilliant start to the pack.

The 2021 Estate Pinot is a more powerful and complex expression of Mornington Peninsula Pinot, with red and dark cherry, strawberry, dried rose, blood orange, spice and savoury forest-floor characters.

Jane Faulkner awarded it 95 points for Halliday, while Gary Walsh gave it 95 points for The Wine Front, praising its perfume, fine tannins and excellent length.

Mature Mornington Peninsula Pinot with serious pedigree.

2025 Gembrook Hill Estate Pinot Noir – Yarra Valley

Gembrook Hill has long been one of the Yarra Valley's great Pinot Noir addresses, and the 2025 looks exceptional.

Philip Rich awarded it a huge:

describing an extraordinarily perfumed wine with poached strawberry, rose petal and baking spice, richly flavoured yet light on its feet, with silky persistent tannins.

🍷 2025 Bannockburn Pinot Noir – Geelong

Bannockburn is one of the genuine benchmarks of Australian Pinot Noir.

And there's some serious vineyard material going into this bottle.

The 2025 combines fruit from estate vineyards planted between 1976 and 2007, including Olive Tree Hill, 10 Rows, Stuart Block, Anns Block and De La Terre.

Hand-picked fruit was wild fermented with approximately 20% whole bunch, before maturation in hogsheads and puncheons with 25% new oak.

Expect classic Bannockburn characters of dark cherry, red fruits, earth, autumn leaves and savoury spice, with structure and genuine cellar potential.

Old vines. Limestone soils. Bannockburn.

This is serious Victorian Pinot.

2025 Heroes Original Vineyard Pinot Noir – Otway Hinterland

Heroes Vineyard is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting names in Victorian Pinot Noir.

And this is the flagship.

Not sourced fruit.

Not the Anti-Hero range.

The Original Heroes Vineyard.

The flagship Pinot comes from the original 10-acre Otway Hinterland vineyard, with production so limited that Heroes allocates the wine primarily through its mailing list, cellar door and selected trade.

James Thomas — formerly assistant winemaker at Bannockburn and head winemaker at Clyde Park — discovered the mature vineyard in 2016 and recognised something special in its combination of a warm site within an exceptionally cool climate.

This is the wine at the heart of the Heroes story.

Perfumed, detailed and wonderfully cool-climate in personality, it's exactly the sort of Pinot that explains why we're so excited about this producer.

2023 Eastern Peake Mount Block Pinot Noir – Ballarat

This is a fascinating bottle.

The Mount Block was planted in 1994 entirely to MV6 Pinot Noir and sits at approximately 430 metres altitude on grey loam over weathered basalt.

Normally this fruit forms an important component of Eastern Peake's Intrinsic Pinot Noir.

But in 2023, a handful of barrels were good enough to warrant their own bottling.

That's how special this wine is.

It received:

96 POINTS – WINE PILOT

and

95 POINTS – JAMES SUCKLING

with beautiful violet, plum, blackberry, mulberry, clove and spice, powdery tannins and impressive structure.

Old MV6. Volcanic soils. 430 metres elevation. Tiny production.

A seriously exciting Victorian Pinot.

2024 Savaterre Pinot Noir – Beechworth

Savaterre.

Winemaker Keppell Smith has gone so far as to ask whether the 2024 might be:

“the best Pinot Noir I have ever made?”

After deciding his 2023 reds weren't good enough to release at all, the 2024 vintage delivered something completely different.

Gary Walsh awarded the wine:

95+ POINTS – THE WINE FRONT

The wine is beautifully aromatic and complex, with raspberry, red cherry, dried rose, spice, wet leaves, earth, smoked paprika and orange peel, finishing with excellent length.

Savaterre describes it as:

“More Burgundy than Australia.”

At $100, this is the most expensive bottle in the pack.
