About the Wine

Rocche dell'Annunziata is universally recognised as one of Barolo's Grand Cru vineyards.

Situated in the commune of La Morra, its calcareous marl soils consistently produce Nebbiolo with haunting aromatics, extraordinary finesse and remarkable ageing potential. The vineyard is revered for producing wines that possess both immense concentration and an almost Burgundian elegance.

Paolo Scavino has long been regarded as one of the finest interpreters of this historic site. The 2016 Riserva is only produced in exceptional years and represents the estate's ultimate expression of Rocche dell'Annunziata.

The 2016 Barolo vintage is itself considered one of the greatest of the modern era, producing wines of incredible balance, purity and longevity. Combined with the exceptional Rocche dell'Annunziata vineyard, the result is nothing short of extraordinary.

Food Pairings

Perfect with:

  • White truffle risotto
  • Beef Wellington
  • Slow-braised beef cheeks
  • Osso buco
  • Roast duck
  • Wild mushroom pappardelle
  • Parmigiano Reggiano

Cellaring

Although already breathtaking with extended decanting, this is a wine built for 30–40+ years of graceful evolution.

Over time it will continue to reveal extraordinary layers of dried roses, leather, truffle, forest floor, tobacco and sweet spice while retaining its remarkable freshness and structure.
