Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep, inky crimson with a vibrant purple rim — pure Barossa intensity in colour and concentration.
Aroma: Explosive aromatics of blackberry compote, dark plum, cocoa, and licorice with accents of espresso, clove, and toasted spice. Subtle graphite and violet lift add sophistication.
Palate: Full-bodied and richly layered. Waves of dark fruit and chocolate cascade across a palate defined by supple yet muscular tannins. A seamless core of fruit purity supported by fine oak polish.
Finish: Long, powerful, and impeccably structured — the quintessential Marananga profile of density and drive with a graceful, lingering finish.

Vineyard & Winemaking
The McDonald Vineyard, located in the premium Marananga sub-district of the Barossa Valley, produces some of the region’s most intensely flavoured Shiraz fruit. The old-vine plantings thrive on ironstone-rich soils over red clay, contributing structure and mineral drive.
Hand-harvested fruit is fermented in small open fermenters with extended maceration to extract colour and fine tannin. The wine is matured in a selection of fine French and American oak barrels, balancing opulent fruit with elegant spice and texture.
Each SV bottling from Eisenstone is a unique snapshot of site — single vineyard, single vintage, single vision.
Region
Marananga, Barossa Valley (SA) — a sub-region famed for its dense, chocolate-rich Shiraz and commanding tannin profile. Its combination of warm days, cool nights, and ironstone soils delivers wines of immense concentration yet surprising refinement.
