Great Value Red Burgundy | Purity, Freshness & Elegance

“A beautifully pure expression of Mâconnais Pinot Noir — vibrant red fruit, fine tannins and classic Burgundian freshness at an exceptional price.”

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Bright translucent ruby with youthful crimson highlights.

Aroma: Fresh and beautifully perfumed with wild strawberry, red cherry and blueberry, followed by touches of forest floor, black pepper and subtle spice.

Palate: Light to medium-bodied and wonderfully energetic. Cherry, cassis and wild strawberry lead into subtle mineral notes, pepper and savoury complexity. Fine tannins and lively acidity give the wine shape without sacrificing its deliciously supple texture.

Finish: Fresh, elegant and persistent, with red berries, gentle spice and fine tannins lingering through the finish.

Critical Acclaim – 2024 Vintage

  • 90 Points – Wine Spectator

For a Bourgogne Pinot Noir selling at just $43 RRP, that's a seriously impressive result.

Vineyard & Winemaking

The fruit comes from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, from vineyards around Azé. The vines grow at around 400 metres elevation on east- to south-facing slopes dominated by clay and limestone soils.

The wine is 100% Pinot Noir, with an average vine age of around 30 years. It undergoes a pre-fermentation cold soak followed by approximately 10 days of fermentation and maceration.

And there's an important detail:

No Oak.

The wine is matured in stainless steel, allowing the freshness, perfume and purity of the Pinot Noir to remain completely at the forefront.

Region

Mâconnais, Burgundy, France

The Mâconnais is better known internationally for Chardonnay, but its Pinot Noir can offer some of the best-value entry points into red Burgundy.

Here the combination of altitude and clay-limestone soils gives the wine exactly what we want:

Red Cherry • Strawberry • Freshness • Spice • Fine Tannins • Minerality

It's Burgundy built around purity and drinkability rather than oak and extraction.

Food Pairings

  • Roast chicken with herbs
  • Duck breast
  • Grilled salmon
  • Mushroom risotto
  • Beef Bourguignon
  • Charcuterie
  • Roast pork
  • Soft French cheeses
