About Head Wines and the Old Vine Shiraz
Head Wines is a celebrated Barossa Valley producer — founded by Alex Head, known for producing wines of extraordinary quality and distinctive old-vine Barossa character. The Old Vine Shiraz is sourced from Barossa Valley vines over 100 years old — among the most precious and irreplaceable viticultural heritage in Australia. These ancient vines, having survived phylloxera, drought and countless vintages, have developed extraordinarily deep root systems accessing water and nutrients unavailable to younger vines. The naturally low yields from century-old vines produce fruit of extraordinary concentration, complexity and character that is simply impossible to replicate from younger plantings. 95 points — outstanding recognition for a wine of extraordinary old-vine distinction.
