About the Wine
Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has earned a reputation as one of Bordeaux's most iconic estates since its classification as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé (Second Growth) in 1855.
Its vineyards lie on one of Pauillac's greatest terroirs, sharing the same deep Günzian gravel soils that have made neighbouring Château Latour famous. These exceptional soils produce Cabernet Sauvignon of extraordinary depth and longevity, while a generous proportion of Merlot contributes the estate's trademark silkiness and elegance.
The 2019 blend is approximately:
- 83% Cabernet Sauvignon
- 14% Merlot
- 2% Cabernet Franc
- 1% Petit Verdot
The outstanding 2019 growing season delivered fruit of remarkable purity, concentration and freshness, allowing the estate to craft one of the finest wines in its long and distinguished history.
Food Pairings
Perfect with:
- Beef Wellington
- Dry-aged Wagyu
- Roast lamb
- Venison loin
- Duck breast
- Black truffle dishes
- Mature Comté or aged Gouda
Cellaring
Although already incredibly impressive after extended decanting, this is a wine destined for a very long life.
Expect it to evolve beautifully for 40–50+ years, developing magnificent layers of cedar, cigar box, graphite, forest floor, truffle and exotic spice while retaining its extraordinary freshness and elegance.
