For decades, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has produced wines capable of challenging Bordeaux's legendary First Growths. Located just metres from Château Latour, its exceptional gravel soils consistently produce wines of extraordinary elegance, perfume and longevity.

The 2016 vintage is one of the finest wines ever produced by the estate. Awarded a perfect 100 points by Vinous and 98 points by both James Suckling and Wine Advocate, it is widely regarded as one of the defining wines of the magnificent 2016 Bordeaux vintage.

This is Pauillac at its most refined.

Tasting Notes

Expect an extraordinary Left Bank Bordeaux with layers of:

  • Blackcurrant and crème de cassis
  • Blackberry and black cherry
  • Crushed violets
  • Cedar and fine cigar box
  • Graphite and pencil lead
  • Dark chocolate and espresso
  • Exotic spice and perfectly integrated French oak

The palate is incredibly concentrated yet remarkably graceful. Powerful Cabernet Sauvignon fruit is complemented by luxurious texture, vibrant freshness and beautifully polished tannins. Every sip reveals another layer of complexity before an exceptionally long, mineral-driven finish.

This is a wine of immense precision, harmony and effortless class.

One of the highest-rated wines of the legendary 2016 Bordeaux vintage.

About the Wine

Founded in 1689, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is one of the most prestigious estates in Pauillac and was classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in the famous 1855 Classification.

The estate occupies one of Bordeaux's greatest terroirs, with vineyards bordering Château Latour. Deep Günzian gravel soils provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, while Merlot planted on clay-rich parcels contributes remarkable richness and silkiness.

The 2016 blend is approximately:

  • 75% Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 21% Merlot
  • 4% Cabernet Franc

The wine was matured in carefully selected French oak barrels, resulting in exceptional structure while preserving purity and freshness.

The outstanding 2016 vintage provided near-perfect growing conditions, allowing the estate to produce one of the most complete wines in its history.

Food Pairings

Perfect with:

  • Beef Wellington
  • Dry-aged Wagyu
  • Roast lamb
  • Venison loin
  • Duck breast
  • Black truffle dishes
  • Mature Comté or aged Gouda

Cellaring

Although already magnificent with extended decanting, this is a wine designed to evolve for 40–50+ years.

With patience, expect remarkable development of cedar, cigar box, graphite, truffle, forest floor and exotic spice while maintaining extraordinary freshness and balance.
