About the Wine
Château Angélus is one of the great icons of Bordeaux.
Located on the renowned limestone and clay slopes of Saint-Émilion, the estate has been owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family for eight generations. Its privileged terroir consistently produces wines that combine the richness of Merlot with the structure, perfume and freshness of Cabernet Franc.
The 2016 blend is composed of approximately:
- 62% Merlot
- 38% Cabernet Franc
This unusually high proportion of Cabernet Franc contributes exceptional floral perfume, freshness and ageing potential, giving the wine its distinctive elegance and complexity.
Following fermentation, the wine was matured in 100% new French oak, resulting in remarkable depth while preserving the purity of the fruit.
The 2016 vintage is widely regarded as one of Bordeaux's greatest ever harvests, producing wines of extraordinary precision, balance and longevity.
