About Bondar and Monastrell
Bondar is one of McLaren Vale’s most celebrated boutique producers — founded by Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly, known for producing wines of extraordinary quality and distinctive McLaren Vale character, particularly celebrated for their Grenache and alternative variety expressions. Monastrell is the Spanish name for Mourvèdre — a variety originally from Spain (Murcia and Valencia) and also celebrated in the southern Rhône (where it is called Mourvèdre) and Provence, producing wines of extraordinary dark fruit character, spice and distinctive savoury complexity. In McLaren Vale’s warm Mediterranean-like climate, Monastrell develops extraordinary depth, concentration and the distinctive dark fruit and spice character that makes it one of the most compelling alternative varieties in Australian winemaking. 94 points — outstanding recognition for a Monastrell of extraordinary McLaren Vale distinction.
