Tasting Notes

Appearance: Bright garnet-red with ruby reflections and exceptional clarity.
Aroma: Seductive aromatics of red cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry layered with rose petal, dried herbs, and a whisper of spice. Hints of truffle, forest floor, and fine French oak add savoury complexity.
Palate: Medium-bodied with silken texture and superb balance. The red fruit core is pure and vibrant, supported by fine-grained tannins and a beautiful line of acidity. Notes of spice, mineral, and gentle earth tones unfold gracefully across the palate.
Finish: Long, elegant, and effortlessly refined — a wine of flow, finesse, and timeless beauty.

Vineyard & Winemaking

Sourced from the McCrone Vineyard, located just west of Ata Rangi’s legendary home block in Martinborough, this single-vineyard Pinot sits on deep alluvial gravels over clay — ideal for wines of both structure and fragrance.

Hand-picked fruit is fermented with indigenous yeasts (25% whole bunch) before maturation in French oak barriques (30% new) for 11 months. Minimal intervention ensures purity of site expression — a true reflection of McCrone’s unique terroir.

Region

Martinborough, New Zealand — home to New Zealand’s most refined and long-lived Pinot Noirs. The region’s cool climate, ancient gravel soils, and maritime influence combine to deliver vibrant fruit, silky texture, and striking balance.
