Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep crimson-purple with brilliant violet hues, immediately suggesting concentration, freshness and youth.

Aroma: Intensely perfumed with blackberry, blueberry and black cherry, layered with violet, cracked black pepper, dried herbs and graphite. Savoury spice and subtle earthy complexity sit underneath the fruit, creating an aromatic profile of remarkable depth.

Palate: Concentrated yet beautifully controlled. Dark berry and black cherry fruit flows through a finely structured palate, accompanied by pepper, savoury spice and mineral complexity. Vineyard & Winemaking

The Seeliger Shiraz comes from Flaxman Valley, one of the coolest and highest parts of the Eden Valley.

Elevation is crucial here. The cooler growing conditions allow Shiraz to ripen slowly, retaining the natural acidity, perfume and peppery freshness that distinguish the best Eden Valley Shiraz from the richer styles produced on the warmer Barossa Valley floor.

The result is Shiraz with genuine intensity, but intensity delivered through fragrance, structure and finesse rather than sheer weight.

Agricola Vintners takes a restrained approach in the winery, allowing the vineyard and vintage to remain at the centre of the finished wine. The result is a distinctly modern expression of South Australian Shiraz — powerful enough to satisfy traditional Shiraz drinkers but sufficiently perfumed, savoury and detailed to appeal to lovers of great Syrah.
