A monumental wine - One of Australia’s great reds

99 points JamesSuckling.com | 97 points Halliday Wine Companion

Heathcote, Victoria
RRP $100 | Flagship Estate Shiraz | Power • Purity • Perfection

“A monumental wine — where intensity meets elegance and old-vine fruit meets extraordinary craftsmanship. One of Australia’s great reds.”

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep purple-crimson with an inky core and brilliant edge.
Aroma: Explosive fragrance of blackberry, plum, and blueberry intertwined with lavender, graphite, and fine spice. Subtle layers of cedar, cocoa, and violet lift the bouquet with haunting complexity.
Palate: Full-bodied yet supremely balanced. Concentrated black fruits, dark chocolate, and savoury spice unfold across a silken palate framed by powder-fine tannins. There’s immense depth, precision, and minerality that reflect the vineyard’s ancient Cambrian soils.
Finish: Endless and graceful — waves of fruit and spice linger with perfect equilibrium. An icon in every sense.

Critical Acclaim

  • 99 Points – JamesSuckling.com
“This is breathtaking. So pure, so refined, so long. Blackberry, plum, and crushed-stone character with polished tannins. The definition of balance and depth.”

  • 97 Points – Halliday Wine Companion
“A wine of stature and precision. Saturated fruit, exquisite balance, and haunting length. Georgia’s Paddock once again sets the benchmark for Heathcote Shiraz.”

Vineyard & Winemaking

Planted in 1975 by Ron and Elva Laughton, the Georgia’s Paddock Vineyard is Jasper Hill’s heart and soul — dry-grown vines rooted in deep red Cambrian soils that produce naturally low yields and immense flavour concentration.

Winemaker Ron Laughton crafts the wine using Jasper Hill’s signature minimal-intervention philosophy:
hand-harvested fruit, wild fermentation, and maturation in French oak (≈ 20 % new). No fining, no filtration — just pure terroir translated through patience and precision.

Region

Heathcote, Victoria — celebrated for Shiraz of unparalleled power and balance.
Its warm days, cool nights, and mineral-rich Cambrian earth produce wines with dark fruit richness, fine structure, and remarkable age-worthiness.

Food Pairings

  • Wagyu ribeye or dry-aged scotch fillet

  • Roast lamb with rosemary and garlic

  • Venison with cherry and juniper

  • Slow-braised beef cheeks

  • Mature cheddar or aged Gouda
