Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright ruby-red with a soft crimson edge — radiant and inviting.
Aroma: Lifted notes of red cherry, raspberry, and rose petal glide over hints of sweet spice, earth, and crushed herbs.
Palate: Medium-bodied and silky, with plush red-berry fruit, gentle tannins, and savoury spice complexity. Energy and texture sit in perfect balance, offering both brightness and depth.
Finish: Supple, spicy, and graceful — a seamless finish that captures Grenache’s purity and charm.
Vineyard & Winemaking
Sourced from old, dry-grown Barossa Valley vines, many dating back more than 50 years, this Grenache reflects the Schild family’s deep connection to their land in Lyndoch.
Named in honour of family patriarch Edgar Schild, the wine is crafted to show fruit transparency over weight, highlighting Grenache’s natural perfume and finesse.
Fruit is hand-harvested, fermented in small open fermenters, and gently pressed to seasoned French oak for 9 months of maturation — allowing texture and spice to evolve without losing purity or freshness.
Region
Barossa Valley, South Australia — Australia’s spiritual home of Grenache.
Its combination of old vines, red-brown loam soils, and warm days with cool nights produces Grenache that balances vibrant fruit with savoury structure and elegance.
