Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep ruby with crimson hues, shimmering with clarity and intensity.
Aroma: A stunning perfume of wild strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry intertwined with rose petal, dried herbs, and subtle spice. Fine oak adds nuance of sandalwood and cedar.
Palate: Silky and finely structured — layers of red fruit glide across the palate with mineral tension and savoury complexity. The tannins are ultra-fine, bringing both texture and precision.
Finish: Long, graceful, and ethereal — the essence of purity and poise, with a lingering resonance of red fruit, spice, and gentle earthiness.

Vineyard & Winemaking
The Kotinga Vineyard, just north of Ata Rangi’s home block in Martinborough, is one of New Zealand’s most exceptional Pinot sites. Planted on ancient, free-draining alluvial gravel soils, it produces fruit of extraordinary intensity and aromatic lift.
The grapes are hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts (30% whole bunch), and aged for 11 months in French oak (35% new). Minimal intervention allows the vineyard’s natural energy and precision to shine through, delivering a wine of remarkable balance and longevity.
Region
Martinborough, New Zealand — a region that consistently produces some of the world’s most sophisticated Pinot Noir. The combination of cool maritime climate, long growing season, and ancient gravel terraces results in wines of structure, perfume, and power wrapped in elegance.
